Have a look at some of the celebrity engagement rings that have caught our eye. Traditionally, engagement rings are a symbol of your love and commitment. But as the latest engagement ring trends show us they’ve also become a way for couples to express their own individual style.

 Emily Ratajkowski’s Two-Stone Cluster

By Mixing diamonds of different shapes and sizes together, your own unique creativity is visible. Each gem cut has its own look and feel and also reflects light in its own way. A variety of diamond cuts on a single engagement ring allows for a mesmerizing choice.

Emily’s gorgeous ring was presented to her by husband Sebastian Bear-McClard in 2018 and was the ideal choice for a taboo-breaking model. It features a teardrop-cut diamond and a princess-cut diamond resting on a thin gold band. What sets it apart from cluster diamond rings previously seen is that the ring features two equally sized large stones. The ring was designed by the couple together and now that they are married it has been paired with a chunky rose gold wedding band. All in all, this ring radiates an edgy and non-traditional feeling that suites this trendy model.

Katy Perry's Pink Flower Ring

Katy Perry's bold and luscious ring from Orlando Bloom features a vivid pink center diamond. It's surrounded by a halo of eight diamonds, each one large in its own right. By surrounding the main stone with diamonds, the side diamonds throw light towards it and make the vivid pink diamond appear even larger in size. What this gives is a mesmerizing display of brilliance from the engagement ring, and we can expect to see a variety of modern interpretations of this ring.

Hailey Bieber's Oval Diamond

Hailey Bieber's Oval Diamond

Fancy cut diamonds is the term used for any diamond shape that is not round and have made themselves known in a big way. Justin Bieber’s engagement ring for Hailey was first seen on the cover of Vogue and certainly was worthy of the headlines it made. It is a 6ct oval shaped diamond that has been set in gold prongs and is delightfully eye-catching.

In order for oval diamond rings to achieve the greatest amount of fire, brilliance and scintillation, they need to be perfectly proportioned. An oval is most often polished with 56 facets. Elongated shapes, such as the pear-shaped diamonds seen on Paris Hilton and Ariana Grande’s engagement rings have also come with a twist. The unique shape makes an optical illusion that allows the diamond to appear bigger than it actually is. We expect to see many more fancy shape diamond rings in the future.

Meghan Markle's Trilogy Ring

Meghan Markle's Trilogy Ring

Meghan Markle and Prince harry got engaged in November 2017 but the three-stone style continues to be a big trend. The stone is an Asscher-cut diamond accompanied by two smaller diamonds. It is a timeless but contemporary piece. Harry chose to honor his mother by using the two side diamonds from Diana’s personal collection, set with a stone he hand selected. The central cushion-cut diamond was purchased by Harry in Botswana. Africa is very close to Harry's heart, so by having a diamond from the continent he considers his second home adds a sentimental value to the engagement ring.

To make another break from tradition, Meghan chose to swop the gold band with a string of small sparkling diamonds after the birth of son Archie. Meghan’s decision has also broken a taboo that rings can’t be changed and updated over time. Many woman may now look to reinvent their engagement rings to follow in this trend.

Jennifer Lopez’s Clean Cut

Jennifer Lopez’s Clean Cut

Jennifer Lopez’s engagement ring given to her by Alex Rodriguez made its first public appearance when she was in Paris attending a Dior fashion show. The emerald-cut diamond stands out because the cuts have long and narrow facets. Most diamonds are cut with small facets to increase the diamonds brilliance. However, JLo's diamond is cut to create a ‘hall of mirrors effect'. When the diamond catches the light, it gives off flashes of white and dark planes within each facet. The flat surface of the diamond highlights its clarity. While this style of diamond cut is unusual, it's very far from modern. The cut dates back to the 1500s and it was originally the style on which emeralds were cut. In the 1920s it became very popular as a style for engagement rings and it's set to make a huge comeback. The ‘emerald cut' is a very simple cut and many settings work very well with this diamond shape.

Stacking Rings

Stacking: Multiple Rings Make A Statement

Engagement rings are designed to be worn with other rings. Once you are married they are paired with a wedding band. We’ll be seeing this taken a step further by wearing two or more bands on each side of the engagement ring. You can choose from plain bands to eternity or embellished bands, allowing you to dress up or down your engagement ring for any occasion. It's also a fantastic solution for those who decide to wear a family heirloom as an engagement ring. Complementing the ring with more new rings that feature contemporary diamond cuts can enhance a traditional cut ring, giving it a more dynamic, layered look. The concept of layering an engagement ring is delightfully playful. It’s blown open the concept of engagement rings, and we will see the newly-married investing in not one, but two or three engagement rings that are designed to be worn together.
